After developing our first iteration of Duet, a desktop-focused web app with a dashboard layout, we realized that Duet was primarily something people would access on their phones and that it would require a much higher ease of share-a-bility. This required us to redesign the platform. We decided to move Duet to a mobile-friendly web app and provide the data comparisons in more of a story format.
After you log in, you have multiple options. You can compare with everyone on Duet, with any public Duet group, or with a single other Duet user:
If you cannot find your friends or your interested groups already on Duet, we've added robust sharing options. You can share Duet with a single friend which will provide you with a link that will take the friend directly to your joint comparison. You can also create a group and copy the link and send that group link to multiple people. When they click on the link, they'll be added to the group and they can compare themselves to the group averages!
Once you choose someone to compare with, you're taken to the data story:
You can also choose to go the music taste mixer:
This offers you a tool to automatically create Spotify playlists that blend your tastes with the music taste of whoever you're duetting with. At the top, you can choose to seed a playlist with either your music taste, a blended music taste, or their music taste, and then adjust the attributes as you please. When you have adjusted to your liking, you can create a playlist, name it, and add it to your library!
